Back in 2021 when the first film, Nobody came out, it was one of those films that I didn’t expect to make an impression on me. I mean, who thinks of Bob Odenkirk when you think action star! But the first film turned out to be great. It’s the type of action comedy that’ll keep you laughing all the way to the end. It turned out to be one of my favorite movies that year. So of course it deserved a sequel. That’s what we got and Nobody 2 definitely a worthy sequel. Bob Odenkirk shines in this film just as much as he did in the first one. Nobody 2 is funny, has some of the best action scenes in film with the same characters that don’t disappoint. This is just one of those good old-fashioned fun movies at the theater. It’s not going to win any awards, but it’s worth the price of a movie ticket because you will be entertained.
Bob Odenkirk returns as Hutch. He’s back to his old tricks as an “auditor” while having to pay off a debt. Needing a vacation, he takes his family to a water park resort that him and his brother visited when they were kids. It’s supposed to be a fun family vacation with making new memories, but he stumbles upon a crime syndicate that he can’t just ignore. That’s the basic story. However, this is where the fun really begins. The best part of the film is Bob Odenkirk playing the same badass that he did before while taking down some major criminals. And at least with this film you do get a better villain. Sharon Stone plays one hell of a psychotic bad guy and she’s fun to watch. Movies like this are all about the gruesome death scenes and they definitely step it up from the last film. The amusement park basically becomes an amusement park of death and it totally works.
This movie isn’t as good as the first one, but it doesn’t matter because t’s entertaining. Plus, I don’t think the story is a one-trick pony because there’s certainly a lot of mileage the studio can get with this particular franchise. And yes, it is now a franchise when you have at least two films. I don’t want to say that we’ve necessarily seen this movie before, but the sequel does feel very familiar. It doesn’t always work in the movie’s favor, but it doesn’t take away from the entertainment. It’s very rare that when you make a sequel it’s going to be better than the first film And Nobody 2 is no exception. But don’t let that dissuade you from seeing this movie. If you liked the first, you will like the second one.
Of course, one of the best parts of the movie is to see Connie Nielsen’s character actually do more than she did in the first film. Her character is no pushover and hopefully we get to explore more with her character if there’s another sequel which I believe there should be. But despite the film feeling too familiar compared to the first, Bob Odenkirk makes this movie worth watching because of the John Wick style action and his fantastic wit. One could make the argument that Hutch is just the badass version of Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad. Wouldn’t that be a wild trip! His same dry wit carries over into this franchise and makes it work. At the very least that’s a good enough reason to see this movie in the theater. I very much enjoyed it and the death scenes were great. Nobody 2 is just pure unadulterated fun at the movies…the kind of entertainment never disappoints. Go check this film out in the theater, you’ll thank me later!!!
